I'm Gilly. I'm an artist based in the North West, creating artwork for homes, schools and public spaces.
My work is often a collaborative venture - when I'm working on any commission, the most important part of my job involves finding out from people what they really want from their art. After that, we work together to decide on venue, theme and finish to make sure the finished piece is perfect for the space and everyone in it.
In schools, pupil voice is key. Including children and staff in the planning and design of artwork ensures a long term relevance: including them in the actual creation of the piece brings a sense of pride and ownership that lasts as long as the artwork itself.
If you look around the website you'll see exactly what I mean! You will also see smaller pieces of Mixed Media Textile Art I create for sale through Etsy or by private request. They are celebrations of natural form, exploring the intricate details of flora and fauna through the medium of stitch and paint. As with the large scale commissions, my passion is for providing the right piece for the right space, knowing that my work has a lasting meaning to those who buy it.
